Mick has spent the last 20 years providing help and support to individuals on the autism spectrum and their families.  He has worked closely with third sector organisations, including being one of the founders of the Cheshire based charity, Autism Inclusive.  In 2012 he successfully gained an MA with distinction in Autism, followed closely by a first class honours degree in Behaviour  Analysis  and  Intervention  in  2016.    In  2019,  Mick  gained  a second Master Degree (MSc) with distinction in Professional Practice.  Mick has recently returned to university where he is looking to complete an MSc in Human Factors and Ergonomics (Behaviour Change). Despite his educational background, Mick acknowledges that most of his learning about autism has come from the many hours he has spent listening to the experiences of people on the spectrum themselves.

Mick is a keen proponent of the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach and is an associate consultant for the British Institute of Learning Disability (BILD) where he delivers training nationwide on PBS.  Mick also delivers training to NHS clinical staff on functional assessments and has just started work on the Oliver MacGowan Mandatory Autism Training Trial.  In his spare time Mick writes about autism and behaviour and has had papers peer-reviewed and published in the British Institute of Learning Disability journal Good Autism Practice, the Royal College of Nursing journal Learning Disability Practice and Autism Advocate published by the Autism Society of America.
